I have noticed that my betta fish Sherbert now has this part of his find sticking out and I feel like they seem more curled or something. His water parameters are great and he is a fully cycled 5 gal planter tank. He is eating normal and enthusiasticly. Has anyone dealt with this? I will add some photos of a month or so ago so you can see the change.

It’s possible he got caught on something and got a little tear. Lotta surface area here to get damaged on a rock or wood or something.

If there’s no discoloration or damage on the fins, betta fins tend to become a little asymmetrical on the ends. I think of it like how hair doesn’t grow evenly, you get asymmetry and splits sometimes.

That first picture looks like a tear. Those fins are like tissue paper, they are so fragile. Check to make sure he isn’t nicking his fins on anything. Fin curling could be from a lot of things. Since his parameters are good, make sure the temperature is between 78 and 82 degrees and that nothing is stressing him out. It could also just be his fin type, which can happen with full moon and rose tail betta fins. Just keep an eye on the fins to make sure this isn’t a beginning stage of fin rot. My bettas have seemed to like stress coat by API. It has aloe which could help that tear heal and helps replace the slime coat which will help protect them.
