Looking to throw some big swim/glide baits in the 2/6 ounce range. Besides a dedicated glidebait rod, would this one be ok?

It would work, but I would really consider something with a more moderate action if you know glide baits will be the thing you want to do. With treble hooks you’ll want to be sure the tip isn’t too fast.

A conventional rod is an offshore/surf rod usually. I’m guessing that’s what this is with a 20-40lb line rating.

Daiwa DX is only a hundred bucks man there’s no good reason to perform an experiment and try to repurpose some random saltwater boat rod.
