First of all, I’m pretty new to bait casting reels; I know how to use one, but this is the first one I’ve owned.
I found this Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Royal reel in my grandpa’s workshop a couple months ago. Foot number is 850100.
After searching various forums, I think it’s an 4600C reel, and I think it has a 4.7:1 gear ratio, but I’m not certain.
It was covered in dust, and I’ve cleaned most of the exterior by now. It feels smooth to reel, but it does get sticky when the “line counter” (apologies if that is not the right term) is at the far left/right of the worm gear, so I think I need to de/degrease that gear before use.
I’m hoping someone a little more knowledgeable could give me some more information on this reel- what rods it may be paired well with, what supplies/parts I might need to grab in order to get it in true working condition, what techniques it would be best suited for (jigging, trolling, etc.), line recommendations, etc.
Any information would be appreciated. My goal is to fix this reel up, and if it’s well suited for it, use it for bank/pier fishing for bass and panfish in central NC, or use it for striper fishing in freshwater lakes in VA. Thanks!

It is a power reel, you can do big baits, cranks, spinnerbaits and this kind of lures. It will struggle with smaller baits, so stay with the heavier stuff.
A nice paperweight for your desk
Perfect size for bass fishing! Check out hedgehogstudios or avail for parts! You probably don’t even need new parts, just gotta clean em good, regrease and reoil.
