I had a 75 gal with a pair of angels. I was ready for more fish so I got a school of black skirts thinking the were peaceful due to research online. I noticed at first my angels (who were very peaceful in their grow out tank) started getting a little nippy with the black skirts. Then when I woke up this morning one of my angels was missing half her fin. Is this just them creating a “pecking order” or will I have to rehome one of the two species?

I went through a similar experience, added Black and White Skirt tetras to my 75gal community assuming they were “peaceful”. I ended up finding a local fish store to re-home them. Come to find out the Skirt tetras are notorious fin nippers, like with any community tank it’s a hit or miss when adding new fish but my tetras were very aggressive and cornering all of the other fish. I found it better to re-home them rather than stressing out and potentially killing off my other fish.
Yeah they’re fin nippers for sure so angels may not be the best tank mates. I’ve found their aggression chills out considerably when they are kept in larger groups like 12+.
