Should I fish with it, or cast it into a blazing fire set to high heat? I can’t tell if it’s beautiful or ugly as sin itself. Please let me know your thoughts, thank you.

Fish it! it‘s not perfect but it will catch fish. Nice start, keep at it.

Pick pattern, get quality materials, tie a bunch of flies, repeat. This does not look much worse than many first flies. Don’t burn it. Keep it so you can see how far you’ve come.

It’ll fish.

It’s wooly, that’s for sure. Keep at it, you’ll get there.
Body doesn’t need to be thick at all…it’s all about the hackle action.

I was listening to a podcast with Joe Rotter from Reds fly shop. He was discussing how in cloudy water or dark water, bugs like a woolly bugger with rubber arms make noise that disrupts the water flow so that fish sense that disruption and go for it. I’m guessing in those conditions this would probably fish just fine. Don’t you beat yourself up about the look, and let it fly.

When I was starting out, anything that wasn’t up to snuff went in the panfish box, and caught fish!
Something will eat this, keep it up!

If I saw that in a fly shop, I would totally buy that.
