I have a betta in a 10 gallon tank and had no problems do water changes regularly have a heater but a week or 2 ago his fins started ripping and his eye looked cloudy I don’t know why water parameters were fine but I asked what I should do and gave him salt baths (no medicine which I realized now I should’ve done) I thought it was mabye the filter that had torn his fins and nothing else was wrong but today I saw a fungus on his head I’m crying right now because I didn’t even have him for a year and this is the first aquarium I’ve ever had I know that I should euthanize him and I probably will today but I was just wondering if there’s anything I could do before I do it

I second KANAPLEX! Has saved me many times. Worth trying but try asap.

Can you share the exact parameters? And how did you get them? + how long have you had the tank?

Look into whether this could be dropsy and treat with Kanaplex just to be safe. I haven’t personally dealt with dropsy to offer more advice if that is the case, I’m sorry:(

if possible, try moving him to a hospital tank so you can monitor his eating and medications + lower or turn off the light for a bit to reduce stress. I’ve also heard betta genetics recently haven’t been great so it may just be an unfortunate coincidence. Don’t be too hard on yourself if something happens-it sounds like you’re really trying and doing what you’re supposed to! Best of luck and hope everything works out!
