It's been rough so far this spring here. Started off strong with back to back catches in early May, but now I'm lucky to land 1 per session. Last year by summer the current was much slower, but we got lots more precipitation this year so I may stay like this for awhile.

I love top water but that's out of the question for now. What are you throwing here? I've had the best luck with jerk baits and ironically a good ole curls tail grub on a jig head.

I'm down to try new setups.

The fact you think spring starts in May for fishing is where you are failing. May is the worst time of the entire year for bass. You want to be on the water in March and April…..they spawn and don’t feed much in May, and then by mid June they start to eat up again and too water turns on.

Is this the Missouri river? That current looks like it would pull to much to even know what is going on.

  3. Time… I would be thro away my time. I don’t have the experience or the patience to figure out what would work in that situation.

You already have thrown the best ones—jerkbaits and grubs. Try different colors till they hit. Sometimes they can be super finicky with just 1 color getting bit.

Blue Fox Spinner Sz 3. I have a great luck in strong current banging it off the rocks with a slow retrieve.

Throwing my damn poles back in the truck, can’t really fish for bass in choppy water. Light to medium rod action would be useless.

Is the water possibly too fast? I’m looking at that current that shit be moving. If u could find calmer pockets within that area probably along the sides of the river or somewhere on that river that slows that current down a bit

From the looks of that current I’m throwing my shit back in the car and headed somewhere else.

  9. Keitech with an appropriate weight jig head. Look for current breaks/eddies. Gonna be a grind but prolly eventually get something

Tie on a snap swivel, and start with a 1oz sinker and work your way up if it keeps drifting. Tie a hook to your main line, hook on your favorite type of live or cut bait, sit and wait

  11. Hula grub on a weighted jog head with a weed protector or a shallow crank bait up river.

I fish rapids on the Shenandoah river like this for smallies. Bitsy minnow on an ultra light is a lot of fun.

  12. Looks pretty rough lol, I’ve been doing super good with medium sized paddle tail swimbaits in fast water like this. Especially in brighter colors like whites and chartreuse. Just toss em out and constant retrieve.

  13. Something with a heavy weight to it. Maybe a night crawler harness with a big ole sinker at the end. I can’t imagine any lures working there
