Hello everyone, this is my first time ever visiting this Reddit.
I am 28 years old and live in North Carolina. I've always had an interest in fishing. However, I've never had anyone in my life be able to show me how or give me tips.
Today at my local brewery I noticed the neighbor's house was being cleaned out in the gentleman had carried several fishing poles to the trash can. I simply asked him if I could have them as I'm trying to teach myself to fish which he happily gave them to me.
I was curious if anyone just based on the picture provided would be able to give me some tips for the next time I go to Walmart or somewhere I can buy some fishing supplies so I can get my fishing adventure started. I've googled a few of the items, but I would love to hear from another person about what each of these rods might be useful for.
Happy to provide extra pictures of anything specific needed. Thank you in advance.

What side of NC? I’m southeastern by the sea. New to the game as well.
The white one in the middle is the only good one the rest are push buttons which are mostly junk and the lures depend on what kind of fish species you are targeting, I am a bass Angler if you want some tips on fishing for bass go ahead and dm me
To add to the picture… Several reels are Zebco… One 202 and one 404. One abu Garcia rod and one Shakespeare rod.. unfamiliar with what purposes these may be tailored towards.. if any.
The middle is Abu Garcia rod, pretty sure. What a great neighbor
The one in the middle with the zip ties on it is probably unused, and is a solid Abu Garcia rod and reel combo.
Go to walmart and buy some #6 aberdeen hooks:

Also pick up some 1″ bobbers:

I would start with respooling them all. The closed face/spincast reels I would do 6lb monofilament (Trilene is a great option and inexpensive.) The spinning/open face setup I would put 8-10lb monofilament on it. I would use the spinning rig for bass. Texas rigged soft plastics is a great and inexpensive way to start. Senkos or stick worms or curly tailed. The color depends on the water you’re fishing and the weather. They have charts online to do a general idea but every fishery is different. You can replicate the rigs that the spin cast have right now and use worms of crickets and catch blue gill. If the float is on the side then it is set too deep.
