Sharing some progress photos of a 30 liter (about 8 US gallons) aquarium I put together 6 weeks ago. My goal was to have a low maintenance aquarium with many inhabitants and possibly an micro eco-system. I added a liter of water from a pond after 1 week, a piece of drift wood after 2 weeks. The tiger lotus came with a cluster of ramshorn snail eggs. After 6 weeks, the tiger lotus is taking over, 10+ tiny snails are roaming the tank, and my local fish store thinks there's not enough algae for shrimp and that I should wait more. 😅 I've been keeping the light for longer to encourage some algae growth.
Do you think I should remove some lotus leaves? Would you wait until algae is much more visible in the tank to get shrimp?
