I have $650 invested into this kayak. Found a guy with a Pelican Catch 100 PWR he’s only used a couple times with a Humminbird helix 5 attached on Facebook marketplace for $800. I offered him $500 and about shit a brick when he said yes. (Lowballed because this was a 4 hour one way trip and I wasn’t willing to otherwise). Got her home and then found a used extremely good condition 40lb thrust trolling motor with a marine battery for $150 on Facebook marketplace as well.
The total of everything into this build would cost about $2000 to buy straight from store and it’s all in like new condition with minimum signs of use.
So, this is my rig. So far I absolutely love it. I can disassemble the entire thing and load the empty kayak onto the top of my car within 10 minutes.
Also, if anyone has a similar build and would like to give me ideas about how to make the handle for the trolling motor just a little more comfortable to use please lmk
