Not a handyman by any means, this is my first real DIY project, I got this kayak for $150 from tractor supply and figured I would slap some lipstick on her. The crate is strapped into the kayak with the bungee cord it came with, all I had to do was secure the cords through the bottom of the crate through holes I drilled and tie stopper knots so they are secure on the guides.

Tips for anyone doing this – hook your poles to the crate with a carabiner bungee in case you lose them they won’t sink.

  • Use long needle nose pliers to slip the bolt through the hole in your pipe. Or use zipties/hose clamps, but they won’t be as secure.

    Looks great.

On another note, the reel with the hoochie spinner is under spooled quite a bit potentially reducing it’s performance.
