I’m in SoCal and want to add Kayak fishing to fill in between sport boat trips. I like the idea of of a modular for ease of hauling as I could easily haul in the back of my Tacoma and it would store easier in my already packed garage. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  1. You could easily haul a 1 piece 10ft yak. Idk the price point of these but I always have doubted the split design.

Just buy an old town PDL 2nd hand off FBM

I ran mine around in my colorado truck bed for a couple years before adopting a trailer for easier/ quicker trip set up

You can see them for $1600-2000 so its similar price range but much nicer imo

I don’t have much experience yet on the kayaks but I don’t trust the ones that are multiple pieces, something about that doesn’t seem right to me…

It’s completely fine. I have one and so do other people (you can check out my post) but funny enough, it’s the folks that haven’t had or used one that tell you to “not waste your money”.

I bought the raptor last year love it. Way easier to haul. No need for a roof rack.

I absolutely love the idea of a modular boat. Sure, you can spend more on a brand name, but can you convert them to a tandem? Nope. These have the ability to swap back and forth from single to tandem, and can easily be stored, and they are smaller sections. I’m quite interested in these, and the Raptor seems most ready to mount a motor in several places.
