I have this Pelican sit-in kayak lying around that I wanted to convert into something I can use for fishing. I was wondering how I could mount some rails on the side since there's not a lot of flat surface around the sit-in opening. Has anyone successfully gotten a rail system going on something like this?
Additionally, does anyone have any further recommendations for what to add/purchase? This is my game plan, was wondering if I am overlooking anything important. As for the front of my kayak, does anyone know what I could put there to make use of the space? I might slide a couple tackle boxes under the existing paracord, but there's that weird crescent-shaped flat spot available.
Current plan:
-Life jacket, specifically a fly-fishing one to give me more arm/shoulder mobility than my current one
-Kayak cart, since I will be alone most of the time & its too awkward to carry by myself
-2-4 rails on the sides, sealed with silicone

-Cupholder in extra accessory mount on offset paddle holder
-Paddle tether, tethered to another eyelet

-Add cargo net on top of milk crate to secure items inside

I might also add some rivets and d-rings to the kayak itself rather than relying solely on the eyelets on the tracks. I'd use the ones with silicone O-rings and add extra silicone to make sure it remains waterproof above the water line.
In the future, I also want to add:
-Pair of radios so that I can communicate with friends on my other kayak or people on shore
-Anchor
-Anchor trolley mounted to kayak itself
-Anchor line reel on track
-Fish finder mount + Garmin Striker 4cv + sun visor
