I just got my first kayak set up and ive been struggling to catch anything. spent five hrs today and not get me wrong it was so calming, but casting and reeling with the current is so much. there were lots of fish blowing up around me but none would bite or follow any lures i used like frogs, and spinners. any tips for catching fish?

Try other lures, fish at other places 👍
Welcome to fishing in general my friend. Yak just gets you to places where boats can’t go and sit and wait won’t dare try. Good luck
Wacky rig.
There is a steeper learning curve than I initially thought. I bass fished off the bank and moving to kayak wasn’t easy. A Drift sock changed the game for me it helped me slow down in current or windy days and helped me stay in the area I was targeting longer. Hook it up to your anchor trolly and you can point your kayak where you want. I was downsizing lures and presentations until I got more comfortable. There is no replacement for time on water. If I still can’t catch anything I hook up a drop shot rig with minnows and can’t help but catch something.
Try putting your kayak in water. I find I have better luck when there’s water.
Well first off- your shitty attitude will scare the fish away. Don’t ask me to explain the phenomenon, Fish are just weird. Second – try yourself some live bait, or some stanky plastics.. get their senses ALERTED, like smelling BBQ while you’re taking your cat for a walk. Third- last but not least, the fish gotta be in the mood to eat.. they just don’t go around eating stuff all day. (Well, Pike do, but they’re weird) When fish are hungry, they will bite a hook with a candy bar wrapper tied to it. So timing really is the most important factor. Probably gonna be a bunch of weirdos telling me I’m wrong.. but I talk to fish more then them, so neener neener. I hope this helps.
