I had to pop apart my reel to detangle a minor birds nest, now I don’t know how to put it back together. I tried putting the inner part with a bunch of names in by just sliding it, though it wouldn’t reel. Help is greatly appreciated!

Any other pieces? Looks like you lost one, looks similar to a gear although the name escapes me.

If it cant be fixed, no biggie, zebcos aren’t expensive.

the reel does not come apart in the manner you took it apart. The spinner head. the round cup with two line pick up pins unscrews from the shaft. Twist and remove the rear cover, be careful because inside you will find loose the pinion, spring and e clip laying loose inside the reel. Reinsert the shaft into the reel, slide the pinion back onto the shaft and make sure it fully seats into its slotted position, slide the spring back onto the shaft and reattach the e clip that holds it all together, reinstall the rear cover. In the future should you need to access the spool, unscrew the spinner head counter clockwise to remove from the shaft. Should you require any replacement parts, Zebco is owned by Rather Outdoors, and they do have a limited availability of parts for this reel. Should they not have your parts, there is a man in corning California named Bud, he calls himself the Rod and Reel Guy, and he has thousands of parts for zebco. He is 80 plus years old, a bit of a gravely voice, but a very knowledgeable and helpful individual.

You need to take the back cover off also. There is a coil spring that goes on the shaft back there and holds it in place. The shaft also goes through a gear and probably a ball bearing, and those parts are probably all loose inside the back cover now.
