I recently got a boat equipped with a Hummingbird PiranhaMAX 4 fish finder and am encountering some issues with interference. It will also occasionally read that I’m in 2-4 feet of water for a brief moment as well (that’s what the black line in the middle of the screen is caused by).
Any trouble shooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Are you fishing really turbid water or during a heavy algae bloom? Could be too high a sensitivity. Double echo at the bottom shows you’re over hard bottom. I’ve had this issue in a shallow river, where I thought I was in 8-9ft but reality was I was in 4′ and the depth finder assumed the bottom echo was the actual depth. Also, the green stuff in the middle would indicate it’s picking up particulate in the water collumn, again due to high sensitivity.
