Looking to purchase multiple premium shimano reels while I’m on a loose budget. Ordering from Japan so anything sub $500 for one is game. Wanting it to last a decade or more of hard use with the great feeling aspect. My main uses for casting reels are top water plugs/walking baits, football jigs in heavy cypress log cover, and weightless trick worm/ soft plastics with sometimes a small spinner bait. I would also be interested in a setup for snook/overslot reds so if any of these reels are good for that I’d like insight as well. I’ve also been recommended the bantam for fresh, and the tranx or calcutta md for salt.

There’s a lot of different things you could do really. The new Antares would be a great for pretty much everything you’re trying to do. For the larger species you would want to go with an MD or something with a little more ass like a Tranx. There’s a lot of info we could go over but I would just scour the forums for what type of fishing you do. I fish for smallies so the smaller spool sizes with the Aldebaran(30) and Metanium(70) work great for me.
