Hey everyone, I’m looking into getting a Penn Fierce IV combo and was wondering if the 6000 size reel paired with the 9ft rod is a solid choice for surf fishing. I’ll mostly be targeting species like striped bass, bluefish, and maybe the occasional drum. Would this setup hold up well for casting distance and handling bigger fish in the surf?
Any input or experiences would be greatly appreciated—thanks in advance!

This pic looks like the 7ft/5000 set up. I think the 9ft /6000 would be good. It’s a heavy reel and heavy rod heads up. The fierce IV are saltwater oriented but don’t have salt water corrosive internals and bearings only gram I think I believe. Need to rinse and repeat after every trip.
