Been looking at these pelican catch 110 hdii and the oldtown sportsman 106 pdl, but $2600 is a little steep for what I need considering the pelican is a little under half the price and actually available. What would I be missing out on if I go with the pelican? (Old town 120 pictured, I don’t want more than 11 ft)

I actually just grabbed a pelican 110 hdii. Was between it and a hobie mirage angler. You lose out on hull thickness, instant reverse, and drive component quality. You gain super easy access to repair claims and in my case the kayak being light enough to overhead carry! In my opinion the extra price wasn’t worth it, but I’m sure the hobies and old towns last longer overall

  2. The 1st couple generations of the pelican Hydryve had quality control issues (which was what initially put me off them for an entry level kayak). For the price & size you need I’d recommend looking at the FeelFree Moken PDL. I went with the FeelFree Lure as my 1st and it was fantastic. Once I dialed in what I needed I upgraded to a Hobie Compass (5years later)

If you go in a lot of skinny water the 106 is way more maneuverable with reversing, also a little easier to pull the drive up. I had the pelican and just got a 106 pdl and its a major step up from the pelican imo. Bought used and I’m not worried about it breaking down at all because parts are available at a reasonable price.
