I was just wondering if I have missed any good lures that catch bass before I slow down on the lure buying from covering every technique, as I'm considering getting more such as a white spinnerbait and another jackhammer (using this as an excuse to be more lures to fuel my addiction). I'm in the central Texas area.

Just my 2 cents from up north here eh.

-A 1/4 ounce hot pink jig head with a green pumpkin 4″ curly tail grub absolutely slays bass.

-Also, a couple size 1 blue fox sonic spinners would do you well.

I could fish with just those 2

  2. What are the water conditions where you’re fishing?

You’ve got a lot of silver and black baits which work well in clear water and sunny days. I’d suggest adding some green and orange baits for overcast days and darker waters

  3. FWIW, I think every arsenal needs a few Kastmasters, Silver Minnows, and Dardevles. They are relatively inexpensive lures, but for whatever reason they seem to catch fish for me on some days when nothing else works.

Because they are cheap and effective, I’ve wound up with quite a few of them ranging from 1/24oz to 1oz. The 2/5oz Dardevle is probably my most used and favorite, and I have it in red/white, black/white, and blue/silver. The black/white color seems to work especially well in murky water during lower light conditions and just about anything from catfish to largemouth to stripers will strike it. Pike seem to like the red/white.

  4. I’ve found that unless you have a boat..many lures/techniques aren’t really useful. If you do then fuck it go catch some fish.
