I lost one of my can straps in the ocean. It was being used to secure down a cooler on my sup.

If I use the s hooks on each longitudinal bar, the metal ratchet ends up being cinched onto the kayak.

When I rig it this way in the photo, like cam straps, it’s just the strap on the kayak.

Look ok?

    It’s fine.

Don’t tighten them too much and replace with a cam when you can.

Should be fine, I like to put the hooks through the fabric loop of opposite hook.

I like cam straps as well, but I’ve had them come loose on me. There are some cool retractable ratchet straps that I use now and I’m just careful to not over tighten.

  4. It will be fine, but only if you give it a solid flick and say, “that ain’t going nowhere.” Failure to do said steps will result in it going somewhere undesired.

It’s “ok” yes…I’d use a cam strap though. Ratchet straps have a tendency to over tighten and cause potential damage to the plastic hull
