I found this at a thrift store next to my workshop and had to snag it cause my friend who’s into fishing said curado’s are some of best bait casters. It’s got a little bit of ware but I think I can restore it. Is this thing a gem? Would like more insight if anybody with knowledge can share.

I only pretty much use vintage curado reels. I really like them a lot and haven’t had issues. They are work horses

    What needs restoring on it?

Yea its a gem, sweet find! I have 2 of these from the back in the day. Pair it with a ML rod and it’s perfect for tossing light or weightless plastics. They’ll last forever as long as you maintain them. On ebay, used ones still sell for over $125+ depending on condition.

E series reels were some of the finest reels ever made, I regret selling all of mine when I stopped fishing for a few years. Take a look at eBay, used ones are selling for what new ones sold for years ago.

You shouldn’t have any issue finding parts for it if any need replacing but I would start with a complete tear down, cleaning and lube to see if that helps it. It’s not a difficult job to do if you’re somewhat mechanically inclined.
