Rod was 11 months old when it experienced rapid disassembly while fighting a pretty average fish.
I thought it a pretty decent deal, 85$ + shipping direct from St Croix as a retired model. It is a Bass-X MH Casting rod. It felt good in my hands, pretty well balanced with a Revo-X low-profile reel. Some quick googling suggests my problem isn't unique.
When I look into Warranty, I can't get a human response. The instructions say to take a picture of the model, serial num (I did register it right away) and a picture after you've broken it in half and send 60 bux. There is no indication of what you get in return.
If you believed you might get a like-for-like rod, I would believe you. That would be my expectation. But if I were to pay 125 for a new rod and shipping is 10, I would have exactly one working rod. If I were to go the warranty route, I would end up paying 155 including shipping. And this for something which is clearly a manufacturing defect.
It is just a grumble, really. I ended up paying 20$ for some ProPaste and its all good again. St Croix did nothing to make this right, never even answered my email.
For my next rod, I'm looking at Temple Fork instead,
