If it were deeper I would say go for it but for that little of damage I’d leave it. If it bothers your hand sand the edges a bit to smooth it out.

Mix cork ‘sawdust’ with wood glue, then blend with sandpaper. This is the proper fix.

Mouse traps keep them from doing it again. Id fish it as is.
You can mix epoxy and cork dust (take an old cork handle and sand it down, or if you rebuild rods you can get cork rings for handle building and do the same) then fill in where the chews are.
