What are you fishing for? Reel might be a bit much for freshwater but if it feels good to you just go for it

A $300+ reel on an ugly stik? I can respect it lol. All jokes aside, size wise yeah you’re fine. I run slammer 2500’s on my 7’ medium and 7’ MH inshore setups and a 4500 on a 7’ heavy, reel could handle a little more rod for sure but shouldn’t feel bad or anything. There’s lighter options for sure, a Shimano or daiwa 2500 would pair and feel great with a MH, but those slammers are bulletproof. I have four of them, all my go-to inshore rods have them!

Yes. I’m assuming you’re fishing saltwater. I typically spend more on my reels than on my rods there. When it’s time to upgrade, I find that Slammer pairs nicely with a 10’M Battalion.
