I recently switched from EWG hooks to offset round bend hooks for worms. I noticed when rigging I can’t get it as straight as a worm on an EWG hook (see pics for comparison).

Already caught fish on the round bends and the hookup feels better so I guess the crookedness doesn’t matter too much.

I guess I answered my own question mostly but is this just the way round bends rig up or can I do something better and does the crookedness matter in the long run?

Push the worm up higher. You can put the eye and knot inside the top of the worm. Should help some. Or just hook less of the top of the worm
