I fish at this beautiful spot probably 2/3 times a week in the morning before work. I love it. I fished as a kid and started again this spring. It’s brought me a lot of joy. This thread too has helped me with a lot. But I can only catch blue gill, crappy, and sometimes green sunfish. He never been able to catch a fish on anything other than worms. I’ve tried crank bait, rooster tail, and soft plastics. I feel in the crank bait and rooster tail really slow. And for soft plastics just slow reel and wait / slow reel and wait.
I’m wondering what I can do to catch something a little bigger? What would you throw I. Here to catch a little bigger? Anything helps and I’m all ears. Thanks friends

    Some tips that might help.

    1. If you fish worm and tiny hook you’ll get panfish 95% of the time, you need to go bigger

    2. “I reel in the crank bait and rooster tail really slow”. Fish are predators, especially with crankbait dont be scared to reel fast… slow… fast then stop then go. Try different retrievals while fan casting to cover water. Same with rooster tail, dont be afraid to try reeling quicker, maybe a quick 1/4 second pause before resuming, etc. Fish are reactionary and way quicker than you think.

    3. for soft plastics, its usually fished VERY slow.. like painfully slow – many done have the patience.

    4. what are you fishing with? Braided line? clear mono line? etc.

    5. What type of fish are you targeting? Bass, Pike, Catfish, other?

    6. how deep is it where you’re fishing? Bigger fish like to hold up in deeper or shaded water during the summer days then creeping up closer to shore in the evening/mornings to feed on the bluegill and sunfish you’re catching.

  2. 5 inch white Pearl zoom super Swimmin fluke. salt or fresh a size 2 bass hook is all you need.
