Not everytime, but I'd say majority or my casts this happens. Randomly when im reeling my line in itll get caught in the seam rather than staying on the groove. Its a $25 walmart rod/reel combo. Could it just be a cheap reel? Or am I doing something wrong?

See if you can tighten the screw that holds the bale right there. There’s a gap that the line keeps going in and that gap shouldn’t be there.

It’s the cheap reel. You can try to tighten that screw but not sure that’s going to fix it.

Yeah it’s a cheap reel problem. That piece should be solid all the way up or deeper to hold the line. You could try adjusting the screw to see if that makes the gap smaller. If you have epoxy laying around seal it, but if not id just put that money to a decent budget reel

  4. Hmm yeah maybe just a bad reel, maybe the screw on the bail arm is loose?

You probably aren’t doing anything wrong, line getting stuck there is a reel problem not a user problem. You could take that bail apart if you are slightly handy, can maybe remove some bits and bobs without sacrificing too much. Like a washer or something between the bearing to remove the excess space, might cause the bearing (if there is one) to be less functional but for a cheap combo probably not the end of the world
