My dad recently found these in his garage and gave them to me, I guess they were mine as a teenager 10+ years ago but I only vaguely remember owning them and have no clue what to use them for. They both say medium heavy but they are some thick ass boys compared to my medium heavy bass rod.

These rods and reels are for heavy/long casting. The medium heavy part is just there to tell you how they’ll feel and bend as your casting and retrieving. These are not bass rods and I would replace that cheap mono line with a 20-30lb braid and a 20lb mono leader to get the most casting distance our of those reels.
Bigger fish? If you end up not using or keeping them, donate them to a local Boys and Girls Club or other kid friendly charity. They’re always in need of gear, regardless of how expensive it was. They’ll target cats or inshore salt with them.
I inherited some larger setups and used it as an opportunity to try catfishing. Been a blast so far!
