Today i decided to make a custom keelguard out of kydex, a mod that is frequently done to prevent hull damage.
After making a paper template I cut the kydex sheet (600mm x 300mm x 20mm) with a jigsaw.
I tried to center it as good as possible and heat up the kydex with a heatgun to get it in the rough contours of the hull. Then I taped it down.
I was going too quickly in the beginning wich made me redo the very front of the section, making a mistake is really forgiving with kydex. Just heat it up again and fold it into the right shape.
Doing this in very little sections and then taping it down works really good.
Now only need to glue it down, wich im still not certain wich glue or epoxy to use. Im from Belgium and we dont have Marine Goop over here. Looking for an alternative but every glue that seems 'right' says it isnt suitable to glue LLD(PE). PE glue is super expensive.
I think im gonna try Bison Kombi Plastic tomorrow. Gonna use it on a a small non important place first and see if it reacts bad with the PE. Let us pray 😅
Cheers to read my little DIY blog.

You may already know this, but this is what I found. Is Shoe Goop available? It is very similar; I have my transducer sealed with it.
3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 or 4200:
Sikaflex polyurethane marine adhesive:
Several Belgian suppliers like Shipfeeds offer various marine polyurethane and silicone sealants with different specifications, as indicated on shipfeeds.portleads.com.
