Recently got a TucTek kayak and the anchor just came in today so I’ll be going on my 2nd trip to attempt fishing. The first time was actually pretty good with the exception of landing the fish and not having enough hands. I’m already working on getting holders, a leverage net and stabilizers.
I’m in Michigan, and plan to be on the water by 6:15. It will be high 60s into the early to mid 70s by noon, with cloudy skies.
Last time I pretty much exclusively used spinners. I was catching fish literally on the first or maybe second cast. I’ve also caught a lot from the shore using a tube bait.
I want to try my hand at more soft baits but need some help on what to use and how to use it. I feel like it may be patience.
I took pictures of what I’m using (worms plan on being wacky weightless), and wondering if I should add or remove something and how to fish it. I also want to use a diver bait (I think?) it hits the water and goes down until you stop reeling.
The river is pretty shallow, with it being between 1-3 feet deep in most parts and has some rocks. I’ve also taken a photo of the river for reference.
Fish I’ve caught in the river include channel cat, small mouth, sheepshead, walleye.
Any help is much appreciated!

Tube jig and ned rig will work wonders in the slower pools. That crankbait should work just fine when you’re moving along in the current.
