I am trying out a new fishing pond that someone mentioned to me. I can't figure out how to fish with all the green cover.

  1. I wouldn’t. Looks like still water. I’d doubt any fish is in there. Buy a fish and say you caught it in the pond. Offer to cook it and share it with that person to see what their reaction is.

But if dedicated to it, I would not use any weight.
Plop on a bobber, a worm on the hook, and cast away.
Maybe try some fly fishing if you can.

That gunk will probably get in the line though.

Thanks. I haven’t bought a frog lure yet but I guess it’s time to add it to my inventory.

  3. either try to clear a section to cast along with a 2 ounce weight and a treble hook on a rod with heavy line or just fish a top water frog. or the best option is to go to a different place to fish. a small bluegill will feel like a 5 lbs bass when you drag it through those weeds.

  4. That looks soooo juicy to try a frog. That duckweed is a great for bass to hang out underneath

Yea late summer the algae and weeds get really bad that may be a better spring spot, but also using a frog you may get a ton of action there now

  6. Weedless frog. Look out over the water find a straight line out with as many clear spots between the weeds as you can find. Cast it out and reel it over clear spots and let it sit for a bit and then on to the next closest clear spot. If the fish are there they will find it. If they are these this can be some of the most fun and entertaining fishing because the take is usually very dramatic. If there are Pike in there it will be even more fun.

  7. Hide the hook inside your nightcrawler and put a weight on the line to punch through
