I just got an abu garcia max pro and im wondering how i should spool it. I fish in freshwater and brackish water mainly, where there are snook, jack, and tarpon. my main target species is bass, but i do wanna be prepared to catch a tarpon. I’m thinking backing it with 8-10lb mono, and really struggling to decide on 20 or 30 braid as my main line.

I’d probably go 30 lb braid with a heavy fluoro leader for toothy guys
Im using 20lb mono rn but id recommend 12lb-20lb braid. Im using that exact reel as my main setup right now. Youre gunna have fun with it. Trust me.
