It’s okay for slinging bait under heavy weights. Not a rod and reel for casting light lures for things like bass or panfish.

I would use it for salt water fishing with a knocked rig with live bait for red fish!! They sometimes run a bit and put up a good fight! Also it would be good for fresh water cat fish, cut bait on a fish finder rig will do wonders!
I would recommend against throwing light weight with it thought, you’re going to feel over encumbered.
I would recommend 40lbs mono for your line! It’s cheap and easy to use!
