I would use a 1 oz weight and maybe go like 12-18 inches above the weight. I would even use a thin wire ewg with a fluke rigged weedless

Having the hook a little more exposed would probably do you good. When you hook the plastic try to push the point through closer to the top of the plastic. Notice how you can see the hook close to the bottom through the plastic.
The way you have it now gives less room for the hook to grab into the fishes lip.
