Got my son a new fishing rod and looked up what type of line are the go to these days. ( We fish occasionally here on the lakes on brass and pike). I always fished with mono lines but got for him a braid 8x (0.10mm) and added a fluorocarbon leader (0.343mm). Used the Alberto knot to tie them together.

At the first throw the knot got stuck on the rod,, got it untangled, and with the second throw it snapped.

I tested the knot before and was able to pull it with quite some strenght. Now I have never used a braided line, so what did I do wrong here? Or can I better get some other line for him?

Looking at the remainings of knot it looks like a little piece of the fluorocarbon is still visible.
