I’m struggling on using these correctly, from what i gather they’re designed to fish the bottom but they keep getting caught on every twig and plant in the lake. I’ve been fishing them like a texas rig with maybe a little more reel in to get them wagging in the water but they just drag the bottom and get caught on everything. the one in the picture had a way better presentation than pictured, this is right after i reeled it in after it got snagged on something, i had to bend the hook back prior to the photo

If you’re constantly getting hung up on the bottom, you might need to speed up your retrieve a bit. They make weedless jigheads too, so that might be worth looking into. If all else fails, you could try a Texas rig. A #1 or 1/0 EWG should be a good fit for a grub that size.

  2. That’s just the nature of jig heads and other non-weedless rigging options. The exposed hook is going to catch things especially if you’re dragging or hopping it along the bottom so they’re not the best for fishing heavy cover. The Texas rig is a better option for heavier cover and you can reel it in faster like you are with the jig head to get that good tail action
