This was my first time catching a big carp and hearing the sound of my drag going crazy. I'm a university student and I can't afford another rod so I wanna make sure I'm not damaging my rod. So I have some questions.
-
Was a high sticking (sorry it was dark so it's kinda hard to see)
-
The fish got away when I was about to pick it up out of the water but it wiggles and my line broke off right at the knot. (8 pound nylon line) is this because of the line was worn out from the fight or I tied the knot wrong? (I use fisherman's knot).
And lastly if you're curious where this is, it is at Han River in Seoul, South Korea.
Thank you in advance!

I would say yes you are, slightly. It’s not every time you lift the rod and when you do it, only a few degrees but you’re definitely leaning into that blank harder than I would.
No. you rod always stayed at the 45-60 degree level below. High sticking is the other 30-45 degrees where your line is almost parallel with your rod.
Nah, I think it’s fine.
The one thing I would say is watch how quickly you come down with it after pumping up. It looks like there’s a chance you could be reducing the tension on the line quite a bit which could cause lost fish. I may be wrong, hard to tell on this video.
I’ve never seen hockey like this before.
