    More expensive rods will usually have better guides, blanks, sensitivity, etc. Ironically, the cheaper rods usually are more durable because they use fiberglass or composite blanks but you lose out on the sensitivity that comes from graphite and the rods tend to be a lot more heavy in the hand, if that makes sense.

  2. I would stick with daiwa or shimano in this price range. You definitely get what you pay for with those two brands.

    Big fan of Daiwa. Their new Regal is under $100 and one of the best reels in the price range.
