After my post on the big rainbows, their numbers have dropped quite a bit in my area, partly do to local anglers reading my post and ditching catch and release but mostly because the netting season for char has started, and since regulations only allow quite large nett holes ( idk what they are called in English) there is mostly just those big rainbows in their, and small rainbows quite literally don’t exist because they are in indoor hatcheries. I’m sure that by next summer the numbers will be up again, but I hope that the county will do something about it by then. The higher ups recently said that they would do something to ” Spare the native species ” it was mostly intended to be against invasive land animals, but I really hope that they do something for the fish
I have done some research and apparently my situation is very bad compared to most of Sweden, especially since there isn’t any access to any major rivers that run into the Baltic sea.
