I was cruising my local river yesterday and came across tons of dead trout. I fish here weekly and haven’t seen anything like this before. They varied from very small juvenile to a large size for this stream. My guess is kids throwing “bombs” or something into the river. I’ve already called CPW and reported it. Any ideas? It’s been cool fall weather so I doubt it’s heat stress.

This picture was after I had gathered all of them and then redistributed back into the water. My ADD brain forgot to take the pile of dead fish photo.

They looked relatively fresh and not decomposed.

  1. Weird. Were they on shore or in the water? Some kind of toxin getting dumped in could have done it but never seen anything like that outside of a reservoir during an algal bloom.
