The pins minnow is this narrow body floating minnow, kind of like a Rapala floater. Except unlike the rapala, it has a tiny little lip, so it dives max three inches and barely wobbles.

Had one in my box for years after buying it on sale, and found it to be absolutely useless. Why the hell would I possibly want a lure that dives 3 inches and has a very subtle action? Until I found the absolute perfect use for this the past few weeks.

You know when the water is cooling down but the weeds are still green and lush? Yeah, this is the perfect use case for one of these little things. I was targeting perch, crappie and small bass in less then 10 feet of water over the weeds, and I must have been catching one fish each cast with this little thing
