I'm new to this sport but very addicted. Yesterday I did a 10 mile hike in Mammoth Lakes when wildfire smoke rolled in. On my descent, my lungs and head were burning but I had to stop by a small pool that I saw some brookies in.

It took me 3 different fly patterns before I nailed one. Worth the 45 extra minutes of smoke inhalation! See before and after pics. I promise no filter was used this is what it looked like in person.

  1. I’m glad you got on some fish but be safe with that smoke!

I knew people that had to get hotels an hour from their home when heavy smoke like blew over their town and it causes breathing problems.
