I’m getting ready to try boat fishing for the first time and want to upgrade my fishing gear. I just saw the Garmin Striker Vivid 4cv Bundle (with transducer and protective cover) on sale for only $144 after discount. Has anyone used this fishfinder before—is it worth buying? Also, what brands do you usually recommend for fishfinders like this? Any advice would be really helpful!

I had one on my little 10’ bass raider, and the new Bass Tracker I bought also came with one.
It’s good for depth, water temp, and kind of knowing what’s going on beneath you. Don’t expect to really be able to pinpoint fish and stuff like that with it though. You’d do better finding fish by studying contour maps before you go out.
Just fine for starting out, but you’ll probably want to upgrade fast, especially if you’re fishing bigger bodies of water and want to find fish offshore. I want something with good mapping and side imaging already.
