I recently bought my first fishing rod and it unfortunately came broken. Luckily the company is sending me a new one out and said to keep the broken one. The top is fine besides a scratch but the bottom is cracked. Is this something I can fix? E.g. should I cut the rod down to be shorter? or should I get a pole insert and stabilize it? or should I keep it for parts

Its a okuma rockaway SP Surf Rod 10'
Is cracked about 1 inches down form the top of the bottom of the rod (smushed)
It has a horizontal crack about 4 inches down
