So before I start I don’t know much about fishing. My 9 year old son who is 10 tomorrow started fishing over the summer holidays and absolutely loves it. He’s been fishing a small pond close by nearly every day over the holidays . Alls he asked for for his birthday is carp fishing stuff. I went into Angling Direct and told them that and on his birthday I’m going to take him to a fishery. They said the best rod for him is 10ft / 3.5lb test curve. Is this ok or should I swap it tomorrow for a 3lb ? Thank you

3.5lb isnt really necessary. I fish with 9ft xtractors with 2.75lb test curve and they are perfect.
Nice rods
3.5 is great if you need to cast 100 meters but seems a bit stiff on the hook set. I prefer 3 to 3.25 tc
Depends on the size of fish your after and how far you’ll have to cast? But unless it’s longer range and fishing with heavy leads / pva bags then probably 3lb be enough
