I got an ugly stick from Walmart I didn't get to get a super good look at it until now. Should I return it? It's the only one there w a complete reel. It's the 7 foot medium heavy fishing rod.
Is this something that I can replace or something I should return?

Return it, swap it for a different one. Ideally just get the rod separate and then Shimano sienna or something along the lines of that would be better than the reel that it comes with. I got the GX2 four piece travel kit and I’m not a big fan of the reel.
Even if you exchange it, The new one would probly end up breaking the same way. I’d return it ,get your money back and spend just a little more money and get something that is made of aluminum.
I would not, those reels are pretty bad already. Your best bet is to run it for the season then buy a better reel. Anything over $30 will be better than the stock reels that come on those rods.
This won’t hurt anything.
