I’m getting into fishing at age 25 – I have a couple of my dads old rod/reel combos and wondering if they’re worth updating or should suit me as a beginner
1st is a daiwa 1600C on a 6’6 Daiwa 1312 ACG. From what I can tell this is a pretty ancient setup and I can’t seem to cast it very far. Should I just replace the reel with something more modern?
2nd is a Shimano FX 1000FB on a 6’ Shimano FX 1000FB. Haven’t had any trouble with this and just caught a bass the other day on my first fishing trip in over 15 years!
Do you think I should spend any money to upgrade either of these setups or rock with what I got? I’m in Dallas Texas so no saltwater and I’m not hunting monsters just local lakes and ponds for now. Any advice would be appreciated!
