I was out fishing some of my local ponds today and got this. I think it’s a bluegill, but it seems rather long for what I am used to. Is it a bluegill, hybrid, or something else?

Appreciate that, just looked it up and yep that’s what I caught, first time catching one!

Yeah, green sunfish are pretty much bluegill with the heart of a bass. I enjoy catching them. Even the small ones put up a good fight for their size.

Like others said Green Sunfish and a nice sized one at that, they usually don’t get super big.
