Tldr: I included the story for entertainment, but really I’m just looking for help guessing the weight. Thanks!

On a trip to Virginia a couple of months ago, we went to a nice little park/lake and I took my old Kayak out. Only for it to storm practically the entire time. Still, I got out on the water for about forty five minutes until it began to storm hard again. Not even a nibble.

Me being on the far end of the lake, I had to paddle back a good distance. As I usually do in these cases, I trolled a 10 in black worm behind while I paddle. That’s when the action finally happened, this guy pulled hard and was determined to take my pole with him.

After a fight under my kayak, I manage to flip him into the boat as I didnt pack a net..and that’s when the trouble happened. Easily the biggest bass I’ve caught, he throws the hook and begins to flop all over. I remained a decent ways from the shore, had this fish threatening to get away before I could get a photo, and had nothing to hold him in place. Except, of course, for my bare feet. So there I am paddling back to shore while holding him in place with both feet as hard as I can, yelling for my wife to come down to grab him at the shore.

It was an experience I won’t forget, especially after I lined him up next to my 3 year old to find that the two were about the same size. However, I didn’t have a scale and have no clue how to judge it. I was thinking maybe 5lb? Any help?
